Morning Breakfast

I've been asked a lot of what I eat for breakfast... So I thought this would be a great post ..

BREAKFAST is the morning important meal of the day!!! People should NEVER EVER skip breakfast.

"Studies show that eating a healthy breakfast (as opposed to the kind containing doughnuts) can help give you:
  • A more nutritionally complete diet, higher in nutrients, vitamins and minerals
  • Improved concentration and performance in the classroom or the boardroom
  • More strength and endurance to engage in physical activity

So back to what I eat.. LOL

My husband got me into eating Oatmeal. Yes oatmeal. I use to dislike it because it did not have any flavor. I use to get the flavored instant oatmeal and well they arent the healthiest ones either.  So my breakfast consist of OATMEAL with a sliced banana.  I get any oatmeal (Target brand, Quaker, etc) but I believe the steal oats are the best ones. 

So 1/2 a cup of oatmeal and a full banana. :) Yes ohhh and coffee! This is what my breakfast looks like. I got to tell you when I eat this I dont get hungry at all until lunch. I skip my snack in between those 2 big meals. YUP! Oatmeal is great.  Here is why:

1. oatmeal may help lower cholesterol and reduce the risk of heart disease.
2. oatmeal can help you control your weight
3.  oatmeal may reduce the risk for type 2 diabetes.
4. Oatmeal contains a wide array of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants
and so much more...
(Google it) :)



So next time you are looking for a healthy morning breakfast GRAB some oatmeal :)

Sharing ...

SHARING IS CARING...

I wanted to share the most update picture of me and how far I've come along... I felt so motivated when I saw this picture..

Just a recap, I started my weight loss journey back in 2009.. So its been over 3 years of hard work, but so worth it :))

So DRUM ROLL! This is as of a few days ago.. (8/03/12 to be exact)






Yea, this is me! My weight as of 08/03/12 is 159lbs. I am in shocked, but cant wait to continue sharing more after pictures..

This is by doing a lot of things including, ZUMBA, Tone It Up Workouts, watching what I eat, Turbo Fire and more!!

August 2012 GOALS!

It's never too late to set Goals for this month.  This month I have made more determined decisions about my health lifestyle.  For one, now that my husband is on board about eating healthier it makes it so much easier for me to be more accountable and to make healthier choices. As some of you know, I started my weightloss journey back in 2009.  It was hard, especially since my husband was not planning on making any changes at that time... Anyway, besides the point now it will be a different story.  These changes started happening about 2-3 weeks ago and I gotta say its GREAT! I love the family support, the knowledge my husband is getting as well as how he researchs more and more information on how to make healthier choices and so on.. I love the fact that now that my husband and I are in the same page it will be easier for the kids as well.

Anyway so for my goals:

1. Lose 4-5lbs this month
2. Workout a total of 6 hours in a week
3. Log ALL my foods including my cheat day on Saturday
4. Be more pro-active in the weekends, walks, etc
5. Continue doing research on healthier foods
6. WATER!!!
7. MORE VEGGIES

I believe those are it.  They will obviously change here and there, but these are my set ground goals.

I added 4-5lbs off because I was once told to make a "reasonable" goal.  I mean no one can lose over 2lbs in a week. Thats NOT healthy! If you think it is, im sorry to burst your bubble but its not! Slow and steady weight loss is better than fast weight loss. I say it because ive been a witness of it you lose weight FAST, you will gain it FAST too.

So for Friday's post here it is! I plan on also adding more blogs along the way!! Hopefully pictures, reviews, etc of different things..

Determined once again

So Saturday I weighted in and only lost .4oz. Lost a total of 8lbs in 5 weeks. Current weight is 162.4.  I do not know the cause of my slow progress now, but I am thinking it has to do a lot with my workouts. Normally I do Turbo Fire 4xs a week and change from Fire 45 and Fire 55.. But I think its now time to kick it up a notch and add more cardio in. I am thinking maybe adding a FULL 60 minutes of exercising 5xs a week. Its kinda hard for me since Fridays are my days that I am with my kids and family doing stuff.. But I guess a walk or a run is better than nothing.

This week I plan on focusing on a few things:
1. Working out 60 minutes
2. Workout 5xs a week
3. Log ALL my food in
4. Keep an eye on portions
5. Blog

The good thing is that my husband is now on my side and is now trying to eat healthy which makes it so much easier for me. His food is AMAZING!! I swear he cooks so good....

Day 1 of TurboFire

So I revamped my workout as well as my goals for July.  I so forgot what staying accountable did for me and how having a soul mate workout is so important. I learned that from Chalene Johnson, creator of TurboJam, TurboKick and so many AMAZING workouts.  I have to admit, I was steering in another direction in regards to my fitness and weightloss goals. I again wanted something fast that will work... Forgot the importance of exercising and eating healthy.  In addition to that, I felt something was missing inside of me.  Well I decided a few days a go and after talking to Mindy Wender, Beachbody Coach, how I needed to workout AGAIN and how I had forgotten the importance to eating healthy... My Gosh, Yea I know right.. I mean I am not over weight.. Still in my 160's but then again I have come a long way from being 230lbs and I know what it takes to break the plateou ... Anyway, Here are my thoughts for the month, goals, etc...

JULY GOALS:
-Break my 160lbs Mark!!
Been 160 for years now and I am ready to hit the mid 150's.
-Workout at least 5xs a week
- TurboFire Workouts and Tone It Up's Fat Blaster and there Booty Calls
- Blog Daily (if possible) about my food, challenges, workouts
- Inspire Others (So important to me)

So yesterday I did Fire 30.. Was going to combine it with Fat Blaster by Tone It Up, but I felt like I over ate and was sooooo bloated. So I just finished the 30 min of that workout and that was it. It felt good going back to my workout that I love. I somewhat feel sore from my back, but it's all good.

As far as eating, here were my meals:
M1: Coffee with Fat Free French Vanilla mix, Organic Oatmeal
M2: BBQ Popped chips
M3: Lentil Soup
M4: Tilapia with 1/2 of baked potato and squash
M5: banana

I was not hungry in between my M3 and M4 so I did not eat anything in between.

Feel's good to be back in the game, blog about my continued weightloss journey, and hopefully inspire others!!!

BLOGGING

Wow, a week that has past and have not blogged.. No wonder I stopped blogging a while back... but I feel its important as it  helps me stay accountable and hopefully inspire other people..

So far my weigh in for Saturday was 164. Wow 2lbs LOST! Yippeeeeee.... Im so excited!!  My ultimate goal is to reach 145 and be toned!!! Of course with the help of the Toneitup Ladies and there workouts I know its possible.

My workout hopefully will consist of: ToneIt Up's Fat Blaster DVD and maybe either Zumba or Turbo Fire.


I will be taking pics of what I eat (hopefully if I remember) and post on here... I also will be adding them on instagram.. So if you are not following me there please do: @aprilanaya

Will blog tonight on foods, workout and motivation level and just some other ramblings LOL

FOOD FOOD FOOD

So I have realized a lot these past few days.. Ive been a girl who LOVED shakes, yea those meal replacements shakes.. I still do and love the company I order from, but I did realize how important food was. So I have been eating "real" food for the past 3 days and OMG people its amazing the difference.. I mean comparing it to me only replacing 2 meals a day and having dinner to eating A LOT! Well not a lot but within my calorie range.

For example, this is what I ate yesterday:
Breakfast: Organic Oatmeal, Coffee
Snack: banana
Lunch: healthy choice soup
Snack: greek yogurt
Dinner: Chicken w/ spinach salad and squash with melted cheese
Snack: Bran Flakes cereal



To me this is A LOT! Compared to me just drinking shakes and dinner. I mean WOW! Food is so much better. I will still contine drinking my shakes, BUT I will use them as a post workout shake or a snack. Cant believe the HUGE difference this has made for me.  I weigh in on Saturday so will log in how much I lost or maintain or whatever the results might be.

Im Back

So after much being away and getting a lot of motivation from my tone it up girls I decided I was going to start blogging.. My goals are real and I want to make sure there are written and if I can inspire someone along the way why not.. So although I have lost weight I still have some weight to lose and overall stick to it.  It has been a rough couple of months but I am ready to make changes in my life and ready to be committed.


So from here on out I will be trying to blog update about my journey and any tips I can share..
